IX/92 offers users of UNIX computers full featured HP2392A terminal emulation for connectivity with HP3000 MPE host computers. It is available for HP/UX and Solaris platforms. Since it reads UNIX standard input and sends its output to UNIX standard output, it has been widely used as middleware, standing between an HP3000 computer and equipment that expects to send and receive data in DEC terminal format. Examples include bar-code scanners, radio-frequency terminals, and telephony equipment.
IX/92 provides:
full character and block mode
support
multi-user capability
serial and LAN connectivity
local printer function support
file transfer in ASCII or binary format between the HP3000
host and local UNIX system.
IX/92 also incorporates a script language to automate all or part of any session, including file transfer.
IX/92 is compatible with X windows based environments, but will also run as a stand-alone UNIX application.
IX/92 can provide gateway capability, making it possible to connect other UNIX computers to an HP3000 host computer via a computer running IX/92.
